Online Summer Courses

Online courses are available for students looking to advance through the high school curriculum (through Michigan Virtual), or needing to recover course credit (through Edgenuity). Before enrolling, please check with your school counselor to determine the appropriate course selection. All final exams associated with online courses must be proctored by a FHPS staff member in the summer learning lab. Each semester of a year-long online class is equivalent to one high school course. When enrolling, please use your FHPS student email address to receive the link to your online course. Depending on the day of the week you register, please be aware that it may take up to 48 hours or longer before your online course link is activated and sent to you via email.

Online Credit Advancement Courses – Michigan Virtual

For the student who is taking a course for the first time in order to advance.  Content and instruction are delivered by Michigan certified, highly-qualified teachers in a virtual learning format. Optional support is offered in person by FHPS teachers Kristy Butler and/or David Fouch. In order for the course to be placed on the FHPS transcript, all final exams must be proctored by a FHPS staff member in the summer learning lab at Central Middle School.

Prior to enrollment, the student should check with their school counselor to determine the appropriate course selection.

To enroll, have the desired course title and semester (either suggested by the school counselor or obtained by perusing the MV site's class list) at hand. Next, go to the Summer Academy class options (select the red enjoylearning.com link below) and from the list of courses, choose Credit Advancement (at the student's school). In the registration notes field, list what class and semester the student would like to take. Then, proceed to the payment screen. Once payment is made, the student's registration is completed.

As an option, students may register for a Michigan Virtual class by enrolling directly on the MV website (without enrolling through FHPS Community Services). If the student wants to have the course credit transferred to FHPS, the student's final exam must be proctored by a FHPS staff member in the summer learning lab at Central Middle School. The cost for the test is $25. To register for the proctored test, select the third link below.

Support Dates: June 11 - August 8, 2019 (no support week of July 1)

Support Times: Tuesday - Thursday, 8:00 a.m - 2:00 p.m.

Online Summer Courses:
Registration Information/Tips

• To receive academic credit for successfully completed online courses, you must register for your online courses through Forest Hills Public Schools and use your FHPS student email address when asked for that contact information. You can register four ways—please see the options above.

• When registering for online courses through this website and you're on the page listing Summer Academy classes, please make sure that you select the registration link that matches your current high school.

• When entering course titles into the box on the registration form, please type in the exact course title as shown on our credit advancement course list, or the exact course title as received from your school counselor. If registering for more than one course, please separate course titles with a comma.

• If you want to register for both semesters of an academic subject, select both "A" and "B" courses. For example, a full year of instruction in Accounting would require registration in both "Accounting A" and "Accounting B" and would cost a total of $700 ($350 for each semester).
